Arrived!!!

It’s been a whirlwind few weeks but we’ve made it to Sunwolf!

We spent a slightly blurry 3 days in Vancouver picking up kit and getting over jet lag and eating EXTREMELY well – Canadians really go to town on breakfast… Plus, Vancouver has some of the best sushi in the world which we were lucky enough to try at Maumi –  a tiny 10 seated place where we watched chef Maumi create his fishy masterpieces (thanks to Dave and Bex for treating us to this!).
From there we rolled north to Squamish to see the family, sneak in a surprise day of skiing in whistler and a ridiculous meal at Alta Bistro, a quick trip up the chief, and have a general kit explosion/repack/boat modify/dry run/wet run. And now it looks like we’re about ready to set off… !!

Just time for Fergies Cafe new trailer official opening party and a job interview and we’ll be on the river.

Our first round of thanks has to include the amazing staff at MEC north Vancouver for storing the boat, helping us with our mega shopping list, advice and general enthusiasm for the trip!

Second is to Nick at Alta bistro who cooked up a storm on Saturday night and blew our minds with his handiwork. I didn’t even know I liked boudin noir! And we should confess we’re still not sure what congee is… but it is definitely delicious!

Third goes to my nephews Flynn (3) and Rufus (17 months) for taking us skiing and showing us where all the best hits were on Blackcomb…

This post is dedicated to Gramps – we’ll be lighting our first fire using only a magnifying glass and raising a whisky in your honour xx
